Born Vienna 1920, arrived Australia 1951, studied Prague 1939, Budapest Academy 1945 - 49. Arriving in Australia already an accomplished artist she held many exhibitions in Sydney. Expressionist influence give distinction to her portraits and she is regarded as one of Australia's finest portrait painters and has won the Archibald Prize twice. Her work is represented in the NGA, AGNSW, AGSA, AGWA, MAGNT, QAG, TMAG, Parliament House Canberra, MCA Sydney, National Portrait Gallery London and most Regional Galleries in Australia along with many private collections. "Judy Cassab is one of the great living treasures of Australian art and remains an inspirational force at the age of 85." |
