Educated State Schools:  Melbourne High School (gained top place for Leaving Honors Drawing in the State for 1942).

Served in R.A.A.F. in World War II as a survey and cartographical draughtsman - overseas service in New Guinea, Morotai and Borneo.

1948 - 68

Full time art instructor for Education Department of Victoria. While doing this, learned printmaking and continued drawing and painting after teaching hours.

1956

Founded the Painting and Printmaking department within the Art-School at Caulfield Institute of Tech. (now part of Monash University) and was head of both departments until resigning from teaching in 1968 to paint full time. In 1968 appointed Deputy Head of C.I.T. Art School.

1969 - 76

Member of the Council of Caulfield Institute of Technology.

1980 - 83

Foundation Member of Federal Government's Artbank Board.

Elected member of the R.W.S (Royal Watercolor Society of London). Senior member since 1994.

1968, 69, 70 won the Rural Bank prize for oils;

Maude Vizard-Wholohan (Adelaide Gallery) for watercolor 1961 and 63, and print section in 1963; etc.

Represented

500 paintings and drawings in the Australian War Memorial Canberra - all done as extra to normal daily service duties. Was not an Official War Artist, being too young.

The Queen Mother; Victoria and Albert Museum, London; Cincinnati Art Museum; Kuala Lumpur Gallery, Malaysia; Dunedin Art Gallery, N.Z.; all Australian capital city National Art collections; National Collection, Canberra; Artbank; many provincial public art galleries; overseas and most Australian Universities and many overseas and Australian corporate and private collections including Myer, the former Mertz collection, ANZ Bank, R&I Bank, Hayman Island, Adelaide, Melbourne and Queensland Clubs.

Represented in the Mitchell Library (NSW), Latrobe Library of Victoria, Oxley Library Brisbane, National Library Canberra.
